The 16th Annual Eden Prairie International Tournament

“an invitational tournament … with an international flair”

July 13 – 15, 2001

The Eden Prairie Soccer Club invites Girls and Boys Premier and Classic Club teams, League Select teams and Tournament teams to compete in the 16th Annual Eden Prairie Tournament. We are pleased to host this exceptional regional tournament featuring teams from several foreign countries and states. The Tournament is designed to offer players a competitive experience with an International flair in one weekend.   It is large enough – 220 teams competed in 2000 -- that we can structure our brackets as single age divisions to insure competitive play at all levels.  Last year, we offered 30 brackets with championship rounds featuring teams from 7 states or foreign countries.  Several of the finals were decided by kicks from the mark – a great indicator of well-matched play.   Additionally, in our Premier 17 an 19 year old brackets we had multiple teams go on and compete in the quarter and semi-finals of the USA Cup

This year, at the U11 and U12 age levels, play will be in two brackets: Classic One, and a combined Classic Two and Classic Three.  At the U13 through U17 age levels, play will be in two competitive divisions: a combined Premier and Classic One bracket and a combined Classic Two and Classic Three bracket.  In 2001 we are offering a U19 bracket, which will feature top national and international teams.   Please join us for this premier soccer weekend where competitive play, fun and a positive soccer experience await you. MYSA and USYSA sanctioned.

Format

Each team will play a minimum of three games with no overtime in a round robin format.  Ages 11 –14 will play 30 minutes per half, 15 – 19’s will play 35 minutes per half.  Final games will be regulation length with two five minute overtime periods followed by kicks from the mark to break ties. Awards will be given to 1st and 2nd Place finishers.  Games will start on Friday mid-afternoon, with finals played Sunday.  No teams will play more than 2 games on any given day.   Teams competing in the USA Cup will have plenty of time to attend the Opening Ceremonies. If the weather or the field conditions make it impossible to carry out the tournament to its full extent, the Tournament Director will make the necessary decisions concerning the rescheduling or cancellation of games for any reason. Game length and times may be shortened or altered until back on schedule, games may be rescheduled or cancelled.
