Eden Prairie Spring Kickoff Classic

The Eden Prairie Soccer Club invites MYSA Boys and Girls teams, U9 and U10 Maroon-Gold, U11 and U12 Classic 1, 2 and 3, to compete in the Eden Prairie Spring Kickoff Classic being held May 15, 2005. We are pleased to host this U9 through U12 tournament that offers players a challenging experience in a festival environment at the beginning of MYSA league play. Teams will play two full-length games in a 3 or 4-hour time block. This is a one-day event and all games will be held in one location, the Flying Cloud Soccer Fields, so team travel and planning logistics will be minimal. The Spring Kickoff Classic is sanctioned by MYSA for MYSA teams only.
The Kickoff Classic is large enough – 132 teams competed in 2004 – that we can structure our pairings and use single age divisions to ensure challenging play at all divisions. Play will be held in the separate Maroon and Gold brackets for U9 and U10, Classic 2 and Classic 3 for U11 and Classic 1,2 and 3 for U12. All games will use USSF certified referees and linespeople.
Please join us for this day of challenging play, fun and awards. We recognize that this may be the first tournament experience for many players, coaches, teams and parents, and we want to make it a positive and enjoyable experience for all. You’ll note that it is not Mother’s Day, the Fishing Opener, or Memorial Day weekend. What a great day for soccer! And what a great way to kickoff the 2005 season!
One Day/Two game Schedule
Each team will play two games bracketed with teams from the same MYSA competitive age and playing level. Teams will be scheduled in a 3 or 4-hour time slot between 8 a.m. and evening. Teams will play MYSA regulation halves; games ending in a tie will remain tied and there will be no overtimes or shootouts. No standings will be kept and no scores will be posted. All players will receive a participation award. If weather or the conditions of the fields make it impossible to carry out the tournament to its full extent, the Tournament Director will make the necessary decisions concerning the rearrangement or cancellation of games. Game length and times maybe shortened or altered until back on schedule, or games maybe rescheduled or cancelled. Teams must reschedule MYSA league games which conflict with the tournament date and game schedule.
You may register by mail, fax, or online. Payment of $150 per U9 and U10 team or $175 per U11 and U12 team must accompany registration to be considered complete. Application deadline is April 15, 2005. Teams will be selected in the order received if space is available in the division. The minimum number of teams needed per division is three. The highest number is twenty. Confirmations will be mailed as registrations are received. Game schedules, pairings, field maps and general information will be mailed out the week of April 26th. Once your registration is received and confirmed, no refunds will be made unless a substitute team can take your place. Fees are non-refundable if games are cancelled for any reason. During the check-in process teams must provide proof of player registration (MYSA Player pass), a completed MYSA Game/Match report and player medical authorization forms.

§ Any player receiving a red card will be sent off and not allowed to play in his/her team’s next tournament game at the minimum.
§ Any player receiving a red card for violent conduct or serious foul play as a result of fighting will not be allowed to play in any remaining tournament games regardless of number remaining.
§ Any player guilty of gross misconduct on tournament grounds will be barred from further competition in the Tournament.
§ The issuance of red and yellow cards and other matters involving the conduct of a team, its players, coaches, or supporters will be recorded and reported as required by US Youth Soccer Tournament Hosting Agreement Rules to the MYSA.
§ All matters involving referee assault (or abuse) shall be referred immediately to the MYSA. Head coaches are responsible for team and spectator behavior. The referee will report problems of improper behavior by coaches, players, and fans to the Tournament Director. This behavior may result in the forfeiture of the game or other appropriate action as deemed necessary by the Tournament Director.
§ Where possible, both teams will be on the same side of the field and fans on the opposite side.
§ Teams are asked to assist in ground maintenance by picking up trash at the end of each game.
§ Absolutely no alcoholic beverages, drug or tobacco usage is allowed on tournament grounds. Dogs are not allowed at the Flying Cloud fields.
§ This is a tobacco free event – no smoking is allowed in any of the Eden Prairie parks or school grounds where tournament games are played.
The Eden Prairie Spring Kickoff Classic follows the MYSA guidelines for suspension of play or cancellation of games in the event of severe weather or adverse field conditions.
§ Every player participates at his or her own risk.
§ Each team is responsible for their medical supplies and for the treating of injuries.
§ Paramedics will be available to assist coaches and parents with injury assessment. They are not the primary care givers of first aid.
§ The field marshals will be in communication with the paramedics; however, each team should act immediately in cases of emergencies.
§ Directions to hospitals and other clinics will be available.

Eden Prairie is located in the Southwest Twin Cities metropolitan area. The Flying Cloud complex is located minutes off Highways 494 and 212 (Maps will be sent). There will be a full concession stand at the tournament site or you can take advantage of the many restaurants in the area.
