TRY-US-OUTS:

Purpose: attend sessions to meet club staff and coaches to see if EPSC is a good fit for your player.


These teams participate in the TCSL (Red, White, & Blue) Leagues

TRYOUTS:


Purpose: allow club staff and coaches to assess a previous EPSC player's technical skills, physical abilities, and tactical understanding of the sport based on the previous year to see if a new team placement is warranted.


These teams participate in the ECNL-RL, NPL-Prem and TCSL (Regional, State, & Cities) Leagues.

August 17: All 2013-2007 Training Starts

August 24: All 2017-2014 Training Starts (Fall Fest)

September 5: TCSL League Matches May Start

October 5: TCSL League Play Ends

October 11-October 12: All end of season events, including TCSL Final 4 and Jamborees


September 9-October 12: CDP 2019-2020 Birth Years Season

September 8-October 14: 2018 Program Season

TRYOUTS FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

  • How are the Try-Us-Out sessions structured?

    • There is no on-site registration required.
    • The first session will be comprised of small-sided soccer games. Players will use their decision-making skills by participating in small group (4v4) activities with the goal of maximizing ball touch opportunities in game-like situations.
    • The second session will be comprised of age-appropriate sized games, such as 7v7 or 9v9.
  • Who will be assessing my player during Try-Us-Outs?

    • Players will be assessed by multiple coaches with the goal of placing them on the most appropriate team for their developmental needs with other players of similar play levels.
  • How does the assessment process work?

    • During the Try-Us-Out sessions, coaches will use a software that automatically inputs scores for players into the EPSC system. 
    • The numbers assigned to players during these sessions are them coupled with coach and Director scores to provide one overall score for each player.
    • All EPSC Staff are involved in the team formation process.
  • How are teams formed once Try-Us-Outs have concluded?

    • If players cannot attend, they can still be placed on a team, but must be registered in the Try-Us-Out event on PlayMetrics.
    • To be placed on a team, any participating player must be registered in the Try-Us-Out event on PlayMetrics. No exceptions will be made.
    • New players are placed on teams within 72 hours after the final Try-Us-Out session based on observations made by attending coaches and EPSC Staff. Notification of team placement will arrive via email.
    • Players will be placed on the most developmentally appropriate team for their age and skills.
    • EPSC staff will attempt to place as many players as possible, and will make projections numbers/team in advance of the sessions.
  • What should my player bring to the Try-Us-Out Session?

    • Players should wear weather appropriate clothing, including shorts and a soccer jersey or t-shirt
    • All players must wear shin guards
    • Plenty of water
    • A fully inflated size 4 soccer ball
    • Pinnies will be handed out at the field
  • What if my player is unable to attend the Try-Us-Out Sessions or can only attend one of them?

    • Current EPSC players unable to attend will be placed according to prior season coach evaluations and Director player rankings. 
    • If you know that your player is unavailable for one or both sessions, please register your player under the Try-Us-Out event in PlayMetrics, note the absence in your registration, AND notify club staff at Info@EPSoccerClub.com.
    • New players who cannot attend the session will be placed on the most developmentally appropriate team.
    • Placements cannot be contested. However, players will be assessed by EPSC staff during the Fall season and moved to a more developmentally appropriate team in the Spring, if needed.
  • My player wants to be a goalkeeper. Will there be specific sessions for goalkeepers?

    • There are no goalkeeper Try-Us-Outs at the 2016s-2017s birth years.
  • How long do I have to make a decision for my player?

    • You will have 72 hours to accept the team placement offer for your player.
    • If you do not accept your spot within 72 hours, there is no guarantee that your player's spot will still be available.
  • How are the Try Out sessions structured?
