OVERVIEW
At the U13U and U14 levels, the primary focus is on refining existing skills and introducing more advanced tactical concepts within the context of 11v11 play.
- Players at this age are expected to have a solid foundation in basic techniques. Training emphasizes improving the speed and accuracy of skills like dribbling, passing, and shooting. This includes position-specific training to further develop technical abilities relevant to individual roles.
- Players begin to learn and apply more complex tactical concepts like understanding game structure, positioning, movement off the ball, and adapting to different game situations. This is also the stage where players start understanding principles like defensive positioning, attacking strategies, and transitions between offense and defense. Small-sided games are valuable in applying these concepts under pressure.
- There will also be emphasis to the physical development and conditioning side where players enhance their speed, agility, and endurance, which are often incorporated into attacking drills.
- Goalkeeping becomes a more specialized position, requiring dedicated training with a qualified goalkeeper trainer in addition to practicing as a field player.
PROGRAM SPECIFICS
EPSC coaches are licensed Staff Members.
- The U13 and U14 Grey Team are typically the 2nd level teams and the Gold Teams are typically the 3rd level teams.
- Both levels of programs participate in the Twin Cities Soccer Leagues (TCSL) at the Regional, State or Cities Level.
- 11v11 Games (10 outfield players and 1 goalkeeper)
- Emphasis is placed on transitioning from foundational skills to a greater understanding of the game's tactical aspects, while continuing to refine technical abilities and improving physical fitness.
SEASON OVERVIEW
Players have the option to opt in by season
FALL
August-October
Season will start the week of August 17th
- Teams train up to three times per week (@ Franlo Park and/or Miller Park)
- Team training will begin the middle of August
- 6x weekend league games (Home games @ Miller Park)
- Games will begin the weekend after Labor Day
- 1x weekend tournament - in the Twin Cities area (tournament fee not included in season fee)
- FinalFour Tournament - October 10-12th - If Qualified
WINTER
Winter 1 - Nov-Dec
Winter 2 - Jan-Mar
- Players can opt-in for Winter Training
- Up to 2x per week at EPHS Dome and/or Central Middle School
- Players will be placed in Training Groups based on Age & Ability and Coached by Staff Trainers
- Winter 1 = Technical Focus
- Winter 2 = Tactical Focus
- Training will consist of futsal, technical/tactical training, and small-sided games
SUMMER
April - June/July
- Training will begin in early April
- This will be at the EP High School Turf during April until grass City fields are ready
- Teams train up to three times per week
- Mostly 90min sessions on Monday-Thursday between 530-830pm
- Training is @ Franlo Park and/or Miller Park
- 10x league games in May and June on weeknights
- Home games @ Miller Park
- Away games @ Opposition fields in the Metro Area (predominantly in South-West Metro)
- 2-3x tournaments held on weekends
- In the Twin Cities area (tournament fee not included in season fee)
- Summer Camp with EPSC
- Week after the end of school
- FinalFour Tournament - July 10-12th - If Qualified
